Dr. Edward M. Truman

Edwin M. Truman is a research fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard’s Kennedy School where he was a senior fellow (2020-2022). Previously he was a non-resident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (2013-2020) and senior fellow 2001-2013, served as assistant secretary of the US Treasury for International Affairs from December 1998 to January 2001 and as counselor to the secretary from March to May 2009. He directed the Division of International Finance of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 1977 to 1998. He has a B.A. from Amherst, Ph.D. from Yale, and has taught at Yale, Amherst, and Williams. He is the author of three books (Sovereign Wealth Funds: Threat or Salvation (2010), Chasing Dirty Money: The Fight Against Money Laundering (2004 with Peter Reuter), and Inflation Targeting and the World Economy (2003)) as well as many other professional publications.
